Black Ops Zombies is the cooperative survival mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops. It unlocks after completing the campaign, and the first map was Kino der Toten. The format is the one that was later adopted by the entire series:
- Rounds: You face waves of zombies that grow increasingly numerous and difficult until you’re defeated. The goal is to survive as many rounds as possible.
- Points and Purchases: Every hit and kill earns you points, which you spend on unlocking areas, buying weapons from the wall, and activating perk machines.
- Mystery Box and Pack-a-Punch: A box gives you random weapons, and a machine upgrades them.
- Maps: In addition to Kino der Toten, the game gradually added others such as Five, Ascension, Call of the Dead, Shangri-La, and Moon, plus remakes of classic World at War maps, and the Dead Ops Arcade minigame.
BO1 Zombies is a fan-made port that runs in a browser tab with all launch maps and all DLC, without requiring a copy of the game or any downloads.
Currently, it only supports single-player mode, with no online co-op or split-screen. It’s unclear who developed it, but it’s attributed to an AI developer named Mitchell Hynes.
