In Stardew Valley, you're moving to the Valley... You've inherited your grandfather's old farm. Armed with some secondhand tools and a few coins, you set out to start your new life!
Are you fed up with modern life, emails, traffic jams, and your boss asking if you can stay five more minutes? Then Stardew Valley has a seemingly simple solution: leave your old life behind and become a farmer. Of course, what starts as a peaceful escape to the countryside ends up turning into a real whirlwind of activity where you’ll grow crops, go fishing, explore mines, get to know your neighbors, raise animals, and probably forget all about sleep.
The story begins when you inherit an old farm from your grandfather in Stardew Valley. The land is a mess, full of rocks, branches, and weeds, but you have a mission: to turn that abandoned place into a spectacular farm. To do this, you’ll have to plant seeds, water crops, harvest produce, and sell them to make money. The problem is that each day has a limited number of hours, so you’ll have to plan carefully… though you’ll end up saying, “I’m just going to water these plants,” and three hours later you’ll be fishing on the other side of the map.
And farming is by no means the only thing you can do. You can fish, take care of animals, cook, craft items, upgrade your tools, and explore mysterious mines full of minerals, monsters, and resources. Because apparently, in Stardew Valley, it’s completely normal for a farmer to put down their hoe, grab a sword, and head underground to fight monsters. Sustainable farming has come a long way.
You’ll also have the chance to get to know the townspeople, each with their own personality, story, and problems. You can befriend them, discover their stories, give them gifts, and, if you want, even find a partner and start a family. Of course, choosing the right gift is important. You might give someone an item that took you half an hour to get, only to find out they absolutely hate it. Welcome to human relationships.
Stardew Valley is the perfect game to escape stress… and replace it with a much more pleasant kind of stress. Here, you won’t have to worry about work meetings, but you will have to worry about whether you’ve watered all your crops, whether the season will change tomorrow, whether your animals have food, and whether you’ll make it home before passing out from exhaustion. A true rural paradise where you come looking for peace and quiet and end up thinking: I CAN’T GO TO SLEEP YET—I STILL HAVE 47 PLANTS TO WATER!
